The Sussex County Land Trust announced Stars Over Sussex: A Delaware 250 Celebration is set for 5 to 9 p.m., Thursday, July 2, on the ground of the Lewes ferry terminal.
The event will serve as the signature Delaware 250 celebration in Sussex County, commemorating America’s 250th birthday with a waterfront evening of live music, food vendors and a coordinated fireworks and drone light show tribute over the Lewes waterfront.
Headlining the evening will be nationally recognized Fleetwood Mac tribute band Fleetwood Macked, performing as part of the established Rocking the Docks summer concert series.
While ticketed viewing areas will be available at the Cape May–Lewes Ferry Terminal, organizers also highlighted several public viewing opportunities throughout Lewes, including Lewes Beach and surrounding waterfront areas where spectators will be able to enjoy the fireworks and drone show from across the harbor.
“This partnership allows us to create something far larger and more impactful than we could independently,” said Sara Bluhm, executive director of the Sussex County Land Trust. “By bringing together Rocking the Docks, Delaware 250, community sponsors and conservation supporters, we’re building a truly unique celebration that reflects the spirit of Sussex County and America’s 250th birthday.”
The drone light show is being made possible through support from Delaware 250, the statewide initiative coordinating Delaware’s commemoration of America’s semiquincentennial. The show will feature animated patriotic imagery, Delaware coastal themes, and community storytelling through synchronized drone formations integrated with fireworks over the canal.
