Delaware Avenue restroom revamping has begun

After years of planning, improvements to the Delaware Avenue comfort station on the Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach are now underway. When work is completed, two family rooms and seven changing rooms will have been added to the street-facing side of the building.
City commissioners unanimously approved a contract worth approximately $475,000 to Smyrna-based Kent Construction Company in October. City Manager Sharon Lynn announced the project had started during a commissioners meeting Nov. 19. The expected completion date is the end of April 2022.
To make room for the changes, the trees on the west side had to be removed.
When work is completed, two family rooms and seven changing rooms will have been added to the Delaware Avenue side of the existing building.
Work is expected to be done by late spring 2022.
