Delaware Division of the Arts awards individual fellowships

January 14, 2021

The Delaware Division of the Arts is recognizing 25 Delaware artists for the high quality of their work.

Work samples from 121 Delaware choreographers, composers, musicians, writers, folk and visual artists were reviewed by out-of-state arts professionals charged with considering demonstrated creativity and skill in their art form.

Fellows are required to offer at least one exhibit or performance during the upcoming year, providing an opportunity for the public to experience their work. The work of the fellows also will be featured in a group exhibition, Award Winners XXI at the Biggs Museum, tentatively set for Friday, June 4, to Sunday, July 25.

“Individual Artist Fellowship grants provide the recognition and exposure that artists need to successfully promote their work,” said Paul Weagraff, Delaware Division of the Arts director. “The financial award allows them to pursue advanced training, purchase equipment and materials, or fulfill other needs to advance their careers. The division was pleased to be able to allocate some additional funds to the fellowship categories this year, thereby enabling the division to recognize more artists this year.”

Local artists who received Established Professional Awards and $6,000 are Howard Eberle of Lewes, for painting;  Kim Klabe, Rehoboth Beach, works on paper; Jack Knight, Long Neck, sculpture; and Terry Miller, Milton, creative nonfiction.

Emerging Professional Awards and $3,000 went to local artists Siobhan Duggan, Lewes, works on paper; Carrie Sz. Keane, Milton, creative nonfiction; and Jack Mackey, Rehoboth Beach, poetry.
