Delaware state parks passes and permits delayed

December 2, 2021

Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has announced that the sale of 2022 state parks passes and surf-fishing permits will be delayed due to supply chain disruptions.

The department announced Dec. 1 that 2021 surf fishing permits will be honored on surf-fishing beaches through Monday, Jan. 31. Daily entrance to Delaware state parks is free through Monday, Feb. 28.

The department does not know when passes and permits will be received, but expects them to be available in early 2022 with sales beginning immediately online, at state parks offices and with retail sales agents. Off-peak surf-fishing permits will also be made available for sale at that time, allowing anglers to drive onto Delaware state parks beaches when they are not at capacity.

Passes and permits are usually available for purchase between Black Friday and Christmas, but the manufacturer is awaiting the arrival of backordered materials needed to create them, according to a department statement.
