Delaware State Police seeking man regarding trailer theft

April 18, 2022

Delaware State Police arrested a Laurel man and are actively seeking another in connection with the theft of a trailer.

Police said 29-year-old Jaread Mears and 39-year-old Chad Mitchell are suspected of stealing a Sure-Trac trailer belonging to Accurate Pest Control, based in Laurel. The trailer was found March 28, when police determined that Mears and Mitchell allegedly sold the trailer to a third party.

Mears was arrested April 15 after attempting to flee officers on foot. He was charged with felony theft over $1,500, selling stolen property over $1,500, second-degree conspiracy and third-degree criminal trespassing. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 in Georgetown and released on $6,050 unsecured bond.

Police say Mitchell is still at large and has an active warrant on the same charges as Mears.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Chad Mitchell is asked to contact Trooper M. Marino of Delaware State Police Troop 5 at 302-337-1090 or by calling 911. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or online at delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.
