Delaware Today names new editor

October 7, 2018

Award-winning regional magazine Delaware Today announced that Scott Pruden, a former newspaper editor and longtime freelance writer, will be its new editor. Pruden, who has written for Today Media publications Delaware Today and Main Line Today for 18 years, as well as for the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Style magazine and Out & About magazine, stepped into the editor role Oct. 1.

A graduate of New Castle County’s John Dickinson High School and a former editor of the school newspaper, he notes that this new position brings his journalism career full circle. Pruden graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism. “I first pursued journalism writing for The Patriot, the Dickinson school newspaper, as a sophomore, and eventually became the editor as a senior,” Pruden said. “At the same time, Delaware Today held a special spot on my parents’ coffee table, so for this next stage of my career to come as editor of the magazine is a great privilege. I look forward to working with our stellar team to tell the stories of the First State for our readers.”

Prior to working as a freelance writer, Pruden was a reporter, copy editor and newsroom manager for newspapers in South Carolina, Arizona, central Pennsylvania and Philadelphia. “We are thrilled to have someone of Scott’s abilities to lead Delaware Today from a content standpoint,” said Rob Martinelli, publisher. “He is well versed in the creation of print and electronic media content.”
