Caesar Rodney High School ROTC honor guard posted colors. The Giorganos, a Gold Star family, led attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance. Veteran Greg Fuller sang the national anthem.
Veteran WIlliam H.J. Manthorpe was the keynote speaker. He talked to the youngsters in the crowd, urging them to make a habit of visiting veteran cemetaries and events like this to pay tribute for families who might be too far from the gravesite to honor them. He reminiced about his childhood watching his grandmother place wreathes on their Revolutionary War veteran relatives during Decoration Day.
