The Delaware Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Delaware State Police and Sussex Cyclists, are hosting Bicycle Safety Checkpoints throughout the summer in the Lewes and Rehoboth Beach areas.

The checkpoints provide bicyclists with free safety information, trail maps, bicycle lights, helmets and basic bicycle repairs. The program is designed to help keep residents, visitors and seasonal workers safe while traveling by bicycle.

Checkpoints will be held from June through August at various locations along popular bike routes and shared-use paths in the resort area. Cyclists are encouraged to stop by and learn about Delaware’s bicycle laws, receive safety equipment and have their bicycles inspected by DelDOT staff. Upcoming events are listed below.
