Delmar downs Tower Hill 3-2 for Division II title

Wildcats win second straight state championship
November 21, 2017

Delmar’s Ashlyn Carr rattled home a slap shot heard around the University of Delaware’s Rullo Stadium, giving the Wildcats a commanding 3-0 advantage over Tower Hill with five minutes left to play in the Division II field hockey championship game.

Logan Walls had scored the only goal in the first half, while Jordan Moore lofted a goal off a corner early in the second half for a 2-0 cushion.

The Hillers went on the hunt in the final four minutes, though, scoring twice and looking for No. 3, but the clock wound down to zero, and the Wildcats had their second straight state championship and first Division II title in the newly configured two-division tournament.

The Wildcats have won 25 games in a row. They finished the season 18-0, while the Hillers ended the season 16-1-1.
