Delmarva Christian School recently announced Steve Walker as its new athletic director.
A Lewes local, Walker brings extensive experience in education, athletic administration and student development. Most recently, he served as a secondary health and physical education teacher in the Cape Henlopen School District. Prior to that, he worked in the Milford School District, where he served as a health and physical education teacher, interim dean of discipline, and school climate and event coordinator.
Walker holds a master of science degree in sport administration from Delaware State University and a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology from Shenandoah University.
Walker said he is passionate about using athletics as a platform to develop character, leadership and faith in student-athletes.
“I wanted to integrate faith into my career,” Walker said. “I felt driven to educate and mentor staff and students by way of a biblical worldview. I want to help shape students’ character and faith alongside their academic and athletic development.”
As athletic director, Walker will oversee Delmarva Christian’s middle and high school athletic programs while helping advance the school’s mission of preparing students spiritually, academically and physically to know and do God’s will in their lives.
