Delmarva Christian baseball doubles up Laurel 10-5

May 17, 2019

The Delmarva Christian baseball team moved to 15-2 May 15 as they collared the Bulldogs 10-5 at Laurel High.

Delmarva Christian had 11 hits in the contest. Royals player Connor Lewis had three hits for the visitors including a double. Riley Culver, Michael Briggs, and Andrew Workman each also hit a two-bagger, while Joe Jones tripled for the Royals.

Royals pitchers Brandon Schlabach and Andrew Workman teamed to allow 10 Laurel hits.

“We had great at bats, and I’ve been stressing the importance of finding drivable balls early in the count,” said Royals coach Eric Reiske. “Laurel’s staff did a nice job of keeping us on our toes with a mix of offspeed and climbing the ladder, but our guys were patient and effective at the plate. Five of our players ended up with extra base hits, so I guess the idea stuck with them. We’ve had a few breakout games lately at the plate, but all year our pitching and defense have kept us competitive. Drew [Workman] and Brandon [Schlabach] have been huge for us on the mound. But, we are blessed to have the families and talent committed to the mission of the school and a bunch of kids who love Jesus and baseball.”

Dalton Perdue and Holden Deihm had three hits for the Bulldogs while Jaden Snyder had two.

The Royals finish their regular-season schedule Monday, May 20, at Lake Forest.
