Delmarva Christian High School celebrates 15th anniversary with students

September 4, 2018

At Delmarva Christian High School, Aug. 21 not only marked the opening of the 2018-19 school year, it also ushered in the school’s 15th anniversary with students.

“It is so hard to believe that so many years have passed since that first, first school day,” said Director of Admissions and Marketing Susan Gum. “With time, a lot has changed, but also much remains the same. Students, parents and staff still get a bit apprehensive with the onset of a new school year, but everyone is also very excited and eager to see what the year has to hold.”

One significant change that has been made since that first day in 2004 is the implementation of two school starts – the first to orient the new students and the second to welcome the entire student body. This year, the new student first day was held Aug. 21. The day provided students time for introductions, team-building activities, electronic textbook installations, password creations and tours through class schedules.

“On Wednesday, we brought the entire DCHS body (comprising faculty, staff, and students) together for a gathering in the Arts and Athletics Center,” said new Principal Matt Kwiatkowski. "Our gathering included praise and worship, a time of sharing from our longtime friends from Buigen-Gymnasium, and the introduction of this year’s schoolwide theme: Rooted in Christ.”

Rewind 15 years, and the consistent traditions of unifying the student body through activities as well as singing praises in worship to God continue today.

“As our students navigated through these first two days, it is clear that the spirit of excitement and anticipation is as strong as ever,” said Kwiatkowski. “It is a pleasure and a privilege partnering with our Delmarva Christian families as we all prepare our students to grow spiritually, academically and physically to know and do God’s will in their lives.”

Delmarva Christian Schools is a nondenominational Christian school providing an excellent Christian education to students in grades nine through 12 at the high school in Georgetown, and from young toddler through grade 8 at the Milton campus.
