Delmarva Christian Schools announce leadership changes

August 23, 2018

Delmarva Christian Schools announced leadership changes at both the high school in Georgetown and the Milton campus.

With 23 years of education experience, Matt Kwiatkowski will move from serving as DCS director of instruction to principal of Delmarva Christian High School.

Prior to coming to Delaware, Kwiatkowski taught and held leadership positions in public schools in Fairfax County, Va., and Howard County and Baltimore County in Maryland. Kwiatkowski made the move to Sussex County four years ago because of his passion for professional development and adult leadership in Christian settings.

“As the Lord simultaneously increased my passions, he cut the strings that tethered me to Maryland. I felt called to this area and immediately fell in love with the mission and vision that God has placed upon Delmarva Christian. Since then, it has been a blessing to be part of the staff and faculty of a school with the stated core purpose: excellent Christian education,” said Kwiatkowski.

“I am looking forward to upholding the high standard of excellence within our school culture while helping both students and teachers realize and utilize their strengths and passions,” said Kwiatkowski of his new role as DCHS principal. “We have an amazing team of teachers, school leaders, and support staff who not only make working at Delmarva Christian a joy but also the mission of impacting students possible.”

Kwiatkowski resides in Georgetown with his wife Wendy, four of his children, and his mother.

With the start of the 2018-19 school year, Drew Jensen has been selected to serve as principal at Delmarva Christian Milton Campus.

For 26 years, Jensen has earned extensive management and supervisory experience with leadership positions in the fitness industry in New Jersey, Connecticut and Maryland, as well as serving as executive pastor at First Baptist Church in Easton, Md. Prior to his pastoral appointment in 2009, Jensen also served in student ministry, as a deacon, as chair of deacons, and as a member and/or leader on various church committees and teams.

Jensen said, “I felt the Lord pulling me to this role. I was not looking for the position, but have a clarity and peace that this is where he wants me to serve. I am looking forward to the opportunity to be part of the work of making the kingdom known, and seeing children and families grow in their love for Jesus.”

Jensen lives in Easton with his wife Kim and their three children.

Beginning his seventh year as head of school and his 14th with Delmarva Christian, Mike Vonhof is passionate about moving the mission and vision of the school forward.

"I am excited to work alongside Matt and Drew in their new roles," said Vonhof. “Furthermore, all of us are so grateful to be in a school where everyone knows and trusts that God is weaving the tapestry – building the right team to accomplish the mission in order to have the greatest impact in the lives of our students. We know that change can be difficult at times, but it is also exciting as we continue to focus on providing an excellent Christian education that is delivered by a highly qualified team who love the Lord and work hard every day.”

Delmarva Christian Schools is a nondenominational Christian school providing an excellent Christian education to students from young toddler through grade 8 at the Milton campus and ninth to 12th grades at the high school in Georgetown. The mission of Delmarva Christian Schools is to proclaim the gospel by preparing students spiritually, academically and physically to know and do God’s will in their lives.
