Delmarva Christian volleyball defeats Salisbury Christian 3-0

Royals remain undefeated at 6-0
September 28, 2017

The Delmarva Christian volleyball team moved to 6-0 Sept. 25 with a 25-7, 25-5 and 25-18 victory over Salisbury Christian School at the Royals’ home court in Georgetown.

Hannah Picconi led the Royals with seven kills, serving two aces and picking up two digs.

“I know it’s not good to underestimate any team,” said Picconi of the lack of height on the Salisbury team. “When you go out there to play with too much confidence, you end up not doing as well. And I think it’s good to go out there and play to the best of your ability.”

Sophomore setter Ashlyn Stonebraker assisted on 16 Royals points. Gabrielle Book and Siera Jones each had seven digs.

“I’m trying to get my serve back,” smiled Jones, who had three aces in the match. “I’m really excited to play Polytech [Thursday, Sept. 28]. It’s gonna be a really good match. We played them in summer league.”

“Salisbury Christian is very scrappy and always gives us great matches,” said Royals coach Jim Berger. “You can never get too confident against them. They made some great digs in the third set and really got scrappy on defense.”
