Davis, Bowen & Friedel Inc. has been selected for a featured segment on "The American Dream," a nationally televised series airing on Bloomberg Television and CNBC.
Filming will take place this fall, with the segment anticipated to air during the first quarter of 2027.
Serving the Mid-Atlantic region, DBF is a full-service architecture, engineering, planning, surveying and environmental consulting firm. The segment will highlight DBF's remarkable journey from a small engineering practice founded in 1983 in a one-room office in downtown Salisbury, Md., to one of the Delmarva Peninsula's most comprehensive professional consulting firms.
Today, DBF employs more than 100 professionals across four offices and has provided services to nearly 4,000 public- and private-sector clients throughout Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and beyond.
"This is an incredible opportunity to share the story of our firm, our people and the communities we serve," said Ring W. Lardner, PE, president of Davis, Bowen & Friedel. "For more than four decades, our success has been built on strong relationships, technical excellence, and a commitment to improving the places where people live, work and play. We are honored that 'The American Dream' recognized our story as one worth telling on a national stage."
"The American Dream" television series highlights businesses, organizations and individuals making a meaningful impact in their communities. The program focuses on authentic stories of entrepreneurship, innovation and community leadership that embody the spirit of the American Dream.
According to the show's production team, DBF was selected because of its exceptional founding story, long-standing commitment to the Delmarva region and significant contributions to the built environment over the past 40 years.
Since its founding by John Davis and Gerald Friedel, DBF has played a key role in shaping communities across the Mid-Atlantic through thousands of projects involving municipal infrastructure, transportation systems, educational facilities, healthcare campuses, environmental restoration initiatives, water and wastewater systems, public safety facilities, coastal engineering, site development and architectural design.
The segment will also showcase one of DBF's defining strengths: the ability to provide a broad range of services under one roof. The firm's multidisciplinary team includes architects, engineers, surveyors, planners, environmental scientists, GIS specialists and construction professionals who collaborate to deliver comprehensive solutions for clients throughout the region.
Beyond project work, the feature will highlight DBF's commitment to community engagement and economic development. The firm has long supported initiatives that strengthen the communities it serves through volunteerism, charitable giving, professional mentorship, educational partnerships and civic involvement.
As competition for engineering and architecture talent continues to increase nationwide, the feature also presents an opportunity to showcase DBF as an employer of choice for professionals seeking meaningful careers with a firm deeply rooted in the communities it serves.
"Our people have always been the heart of our organization," Lardner said. "The projects we design and the communities we help shape are only possible because of the talented professionals who bring their expertise, creativity and dedication to work every day. This recognition belongs to every employee who has contributed to our success over the years."
As DBF continues to grow and evolve, this opportunity reflects the firm's enduring mission: providing innovative, practical and sustainable solutions that enrich communities and improve quality of life throughout the region.
