Dewey ‘D.C.’ C. Evans Jr., retired police officer

Dewey “D.C.” C. Evans Jr., 74, of Hebron, Md., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Monday, Nov. 5, 2018, at his home.

He was born in Rocky Mountain, N.C., July 12, 1944, son of the late Dewey C. Evans Sr. and the late Irene (Bottoms) Evans.  “D.C.” had a 35-year career in law enforcement serving on the Delaware State Police and for several municipalities.  

“D.C.” was a Mason with Accomack Lodge #243 in Chincoteague, Va., and a member of Calvary Chapel in Salisbury, Md.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 32 years, Judy (Voorhies) Evans; three children, Beverly Evans Brown and her husband Matthew of Great Mills, Md., Christin Merriman and her husband Marcus of Williamsburg, Va., and Justin Reynolds and his wife Viki of Murfreesboro, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren, Christopher Taylor and his wife Ashley of Tucson, Ariz., Elizabeth Beishline and her husband Nicholas of Boalsburg, Pa., Amanda Reynolds of Severn, Md., Harrison Merriman of Richmond, Va., Savannah Merriman of Williamsburg, Va., Emily Posey of Murfreesboro and Jarod Posey of Murfreesboro.  He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Zoe Hohn and Jameson Taylor of Tucson; and a sister, Lois Hill and her husband Scott of Harrington.

A celebration of his life will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Calvary Chapel, 737 East Main St., Salisbury.  Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Dewey’s name to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
