Dewey Beach Lions present $3,000 to Boardwalk Buddy Walk

September 22, 2022

The Dewey Beach Lions are proud to make their annual contribution of $3,000 to the Boardwalk Buddy Walk in Rehoboth Beach.

Founded in 2006 by Dennis and Sharonlee Diehl, the walk will begin at 9 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand.

The mission of the walk has been to help create a community where people with Down syndrome and other cognitive disorders can live, learn, work and play.

Family members, friends, and school and workplace colleagues can form teams, and create motivational signs and banners.

After the walk, there will be live music and entertainment at the Buddy Hop with singing, dancing, performances, awards and more.

Rehoboth Beach merchants will have their welcome mats out. Those who wear their Buddy Walk T-shirts around town will receive special attention, surprises and discounts at participating eateries and stores.

Registration is free at boardwalkbuddywalk.com.

With a dynamic history, Lions are best known for fighting blindness, but they also award scholarships and volunteer for many different kinds of community projects including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry, and aiding seniors and the disabled.
