December 2, 2020

The Garden of Lights show at Mill Pond Garden will welcome volunteers organized by Shadyside neighbor Lisa Bayko to benefit the Delaware Humane Association from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 9. Subscribe for tickets at millpondgarden.com. Enjoy this beautiful walk-through 35,000-light show with proceeds going to DHA, which has facilities in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach. Extra donations are welcome via checks made out to Delaware Humane Association and handed to ticket taker at check-in. The DHA is often overwhelmed with more need than resources for the protection of animals.

Corey Topel, DHA marketing manager, said, “Delaware Humane Association is a nonprofit, no-kill animal care and adoption center. DHA’s mission is to make friends for life by connecting people with animals. DHA is committed to providing for the needs of homeless and owned dogs and cats by providing temporary shelter, affordable spay and neuter services, low-cost vaccination clinics, a pet food pantry, adoption and placement resources, and more. For more information, or to donate, visit delawarehumane.org and connect on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter at @delawarehumane.”

Michael Zajic of Mill Pond Garden said, “The Cape community loves its dogs, cats, and pets, often gathering supplies or money to donate to the care of animals in trouble and need. Mill Pond Garden wishes to help and to share in this season for sharing. You can help needy animals and enjoy yourself too in this safe outdoor venue event. About 60 percent of your ticket price goes to the animal shelter. On other show nights, about 10 percent goes to support local Cape food banks.”

Light shows are scheduled now with tickets available to purchase on the website for Dec. 6, 9, 11, 12 and 13. Masks and social distancing apply for the safety of all, in accord with state mandates. One $12 ticket admits one car with up to six passengers in the group.

Mill Pond Garden is a small, federal and state nonprofit, holistic, public botanic garden on Red Mill Pond at 31401 Melloy Court, Lewes, operated for the benefit of the community and for wildlife.
