Diaz Bonville of Rehoboth Beach has joined the board of directors of CHEER Inc., a countywide nonprofit agency that serves the needs of senior citizens in Sussex County.
Bonville retired from the Indian River School District in 2017 as the school community liaison and is now the Kent and Sussex county outreach coordinator for Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester.
Diaz said he would often ride by the CHEER Community Center in Georgetown and think about how he would like to be involved with the agency, so when he was asked to join the CHEER board, there was no hesitation.
“I am very well pleased with what goes on at CHEER,” Diaz said. “Everyone here really is cheerful. I have not found anyone who does not enjoy what they are doing.”
Diaz’s vision for the future of CHEER is to change the culture of mature Sussex Countians to get them out into the community and coming into CHEER’s activity centers at least one day a week. He says they will find it a wonderful place to go.
