Dickens Parlour Theatre to begin 10th season June 19 in Millville

June 13, 2019

Dickens Parlour Theatre’s full-time summer season will begin Wednesday, June 19, with “The Great Kaplan,” a one-man comedy and variety show. Kaplan’s performance is inspired by the antics of Keaton, Sellers, Victor Borge, the Smothers Brothers and the illustrious Wile E. Coyote, among others. Kaplan welcomes spectators young and old into a wonderfully strange world they will not soon forget.

Dickens Parlour Theatre in Millville, just west of Bethany Beach, is the brainchild of Rich and Sue Bloch, whose dream was to develop a unique environment to bring live magical performances to the Delaware beach area on a nightly basis. They purchased a 75-year-old residential property and garage and, like magic, transformed it into a beautiful 52-seat theatre, where Rich Bloch walked onto the stage for his first magical performance June 17, 2010. For the past nine years, magicians have come from all over the world to delight audiences with their unique skills.

Beginning its 10th season this summer, this quaint little theatre has housed approximately 2,000 shows while entertaining close to 90,000 customers. It has become a must-see place for those living at or visiting the Delmarva beaches. Dickens has also delighted its patrons with plays, musicals and, most recently, comedy acts.
