Dodgeball fundraiser set April 5 for Mariner students

To provide funds to attend national business leadership competition
March 31, 2019

After months of preparation, a group of 24 Mariner Middle students attended the Business Professionals of America Delaware State Leadership Conference at Dover Downs Feb. 27. The all-day event allowed students to compete in business, marketing and finance events, and attend various workshops led by industry experts.

Demonstrating exceptional skills and talent, eight students qualified to compete at the national BPA conference in Anaheim, Calif., this spring. Fundraising efforts are underway to help offset their costs to attend the conference. Grotto Grand Slam in Lewes hosted a dine and donate event March19.

The students will host a dodgeball tournament at 6 p.m., Friday, April 5, in the Mariner gymnasium. Registration is $30 for teams of six which must include at least two females per team. For those coming to watch the tournament, admission is $2.

For those who wish to contribute directly, there is a GoFundMe account: www.gofundme.com/f/help-send-mariner-bpa-to-national-competition. All proceeds will help the students offset the cost of transportation, airfare and hotel accommodations.
