Dogfish Dash 8K attracts nearly 2,500 runners to Milton

The 2017 edition of the Dogfish Dash 8K attracted nearly 2,500 people to Milton Sept. 24. Runners come from all over the country to run in this unique, off-centered event, as it takes participants from the Milton brewery and through the old Sussex town. 

First back to the finish line was Sean Caskey of Dundalk, Md., in a time of 27:32. On his heels was Delmar cross country runner Austen Cave of Delmar in 27:46. Rounding out the top five were Patrick Boettcher of Newark in 28:09, Gar Bercury of Slippery Rock, Pa., in 28:20 and female winner Marina Orrson of Shavertown, Pa., in 28:25. 

Behind Orrson were Emily Ritter of Millsboro in 30:17, Holly Smith of Rehoboth Beach in 31:39, Sara Ellis of Newark in 31:49 and Bethany Killmon of Bridgeville in 32:30.

Dogfish founder Sam Calagione ran the race in 54:36.
