Dominick T. DeMidio, WWII POW

Dominick T. DeMidio, 94, of Milford, formerly of East Orange and Crandon Lakes, N.J., passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at the Delaware Veterans Home.  He was born in Donora, Pa., April 27, 1924, son of the late Pasquale and Nicolina DeMidio.

Mr. DeMidio was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he proudly served during World War II as a paratrooper. He was a POW for one year in Germany following the D-Day invasion at which time his unit was dropped behind enemy lines.  In 1987 he and his wife Rose moved to the Seaford area. He enjoyed golfing, and in his earlier years, fishing and water skiing. You could always find Mr. DeMidio making or repairing something.

Mr. DeMidio is survived by his loving wife, Rose Elizabeth DeMidio of Milford; his brother, Reges DeMidio of California; his sister, Freda Envall of California; and many nieces and nephews.

A Catholic Prayer Service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, where friends may visit begininng at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow the services at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. DeMidio's name to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963.
