Don’t forget to vote for Coons in primaries

September 3, 2020

Remember our history! Don’t take the primary election for granted, if you are a Chris Coons supporter. It was 10 years ago when Republican Congressman Mike Castle was running in a primary race against challenger Christine O’Donnell.

Republicans were so sure that Castle would win this contest that many of them didn’t bother to vote in September 2010. In a shocking upset, Mike Castle lost the primary, and the race was now between Democrat Chris Coons and Republican Christine O’Donnell.

The Sept. 15 Delaware primary election is critically important for many offices, especially the U.S. Senate seat. I encourage registered Delawareans to vote, by absentee ballot or at the polls, and not to assume that your preferred candidate will win.

We have endured enough political trauma this year. We need experienced, intelligent representatives who have an understanding of global issues and are willing to reach across the aisle to solve problems.

Whenever I hear Chris Coons interviewed, I feel proud that Delaware sent him to the Senate. We need him to continue his work in Washington, on Amtrak and in Delaware.
