Don Flood, the truth, and Trump

July 27, 2021

It’s clear that Don Flood is having a tough time getting Donald Trump out of his head, leading him to believe and promote anything anti-Trump. In his letter to the editor July 22, he begins to talk about COVID, but quickly reverts to anti-Trump mode with total disregard for the truth.

His main concern is that Trump continues to contest the election. That’s true, but he fails to mention that Democrats and Hillary Clinton contested Trump’s victory for his entire time in office over the fully discredited “Russia collusion” hoax. They even impeached him twice. Seven House Democrats also objected to electoral votes from multiple states after his victory. So much for Democrats accepting election results.

The Georgia Secretary of State call has also been fully discredited, the Washington Post even posted a correction on March 11; perhaps Flood missed it.

Flood also mentions the “insurrection” on Jan. 6. This would be the first unarmed insurrection in history, where the “insurrectionists” were more interested in taking selfies than taking down the government. Those who have been charged have been indicted for trespassing, not insurrection. The true crime is that Ashley Babbitt, an unarmed Trump supporter and only person killed, was shot by a Capitol Hill police officer yet to be named (why?). Many “insurrectionists” remain in solitary confinement six months later. Compare this treatment to the convicted BLM/Antifa rioters that attacked and damaged businesses, federal buildings and monuments last year, killing 25 to 36 people in the process. Most were released within 24 hours.

Don Flood suggests Trump is causing democracy to die because he continues to contest the election. If there is absolutely nothing to hide you should welcome the scrutiny of election audits, etc. The results of an audit proving the election results were accurate would finally show that all was fair and square in the election, bolstering democracy. “The man doth protest too much, me thinks.”

Flood feels it is good that we revere our heritage and that local Republican leaders play their part in saving democracy. I too believe we should revere our heritage and play our part in saving democracy, that is why I’m opposed to Critical Race Theory and the 1619 Project. I have not seen Flood object to those threats which would truly destroy our heritage and democracy. Transparency is what builds trust in democracy, not resisting the scrutiny of suspicious results.
