May 28, 2021

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty Sales Agent Robin Palumbo Thompson, team leader of The Robin Thompson Team - Realtors with a Purpose, is organizing a drive in partnership with Cape Community Cares to support Cape Henlopen High School graduating seniors who will be attending college.

Cape Community Cares serves as a liaison to offer services and resources to motivated, economically disadvantaged students and families within the Cape Henlopen School District in order to provide as many opportunities for them to succeed as possible.

As the Cape Henlopen School District Class of 2021 is approaching graduation, items are needed to support the students for the upcoming summer and as they begin college.  BHHS Gallo Realty sales agents Robin Palumbo Thompson, April Green-Kastor and Stacie Whaley are seeking contributions for this worthy cause.

"So many local students need help to be successful at school and beyond," said Palumbo Thompson. "Many of the items needed are small and easy to buy. When you go to the store yourself, please buy two of an item and donate one. That will make a huge difference to a local school child!  The Robin Thompson Team has been partnering with Cape Community Cares in our district for a couple of years now and it means so much to us to be able to provide these students with the necessary items. They are now going off to college and we want to ensure they know they have support from our community.”

A categorized lists of items needed to make shopping easier:

• Cleaning essentials needed include spray cleaner, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, laundry baskets or bags, trash bags, sponges, disinfectant wipes, paper towels and clothing hangers that are packaged together.

• Bathroom essentials being collected include bathroom cleaner, window mirror cleaner, sunscreen, band-aids, acetaminophen or ibuprofin, shower shoes such as flip flops, washcloths, towels, tweezers, nail clippers, first aid kit, hair ties, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, body soap bars and liquid, razors, face wash and shaving cream.

• Kitchen or eating essentials needed include paper plates, plastic utensils, zip closure bags and food storage containers, water bottles, plates/bowls/cups/utensils, popcorn, granola bars, goldfish, chips, pretzels and can openers.

• Additional items being collected include AA and AAA batteries, packs of command hooks, small white boards and markers, table chargers for phone/laptop, printer paper, extension cords, small trash can and liners, umbrellas, ponchos, bed lifts, over the door hooks, small basic tool kits, and flash drives.

Items can be delivered to the Robin Thompson Team by Tuesday, June 1, at its office at 16712 Kings Highway in Lewes. Financial donations may be sent through PayPal at robinpthompson@verizon.net and team members will buy needed items. All the supplies will be delivered to the district office before the end of school and officials there will distribute to the students.

"We live in such a wonderful area that no student or parent should have to worry that they won’t have the supplies needed to have a successful school year,” said Palumbo Thompson.
