Doo-Dah Parade continues despite heat warning
The extreme heat July 4 didn't stop these women from dressing up in long-sleeve historical costumes for the 2026 Lewes Doo-Dah Parade. People in cars and on bikes and other wheeled vehicles fill the streets for the July 4 Lewes Doo-Dah Parade.
Many of the parade participants cool themselves – and the spectators – with water guns.
Some participants, including Chris and Ava Streiff, rode on bikes decked out with American flags and red, white and blue decorations. 
A parade-goer gladly accepts some friendly water gun fire to cool off.
Participants parade in all kinds of patriotically decked-out vehicles.

The annual Lewes Doo-Dah Parade took place downtown on the evening of July 4 despite a scorching real-feel temperature of about 105 degrees.
The parade began promptly at 5 p.m. and was limited to 45 minutes due to an extreme heat warning. It started on Manila Avenue, turned left on Kings Highway, left on Second Street and ended on Market Street between Second and Third streets.
Lewes police and the Delaware Department of Transportation trailed the parade, providing traffic control and marking the official end of the procession.
