Doris L. Koehler, active in community

Doris L. Koehler went home to be with our Lord Friday, April 23, 2021.  She was blessed to have spent the past year at Brandywine Assisted Living at Fenwick Island where the staff took wonderful care of her.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold “Fritz” Koehler.  She is survived by her stepchildren Susan Curll, Arnold Koehler (Bonnie) and Warren Koehler (Shoda); grandchildren Arnold Koehler IV, Todd Curll (Nina) and Tim Curll (Angela); and great-grandchildren Duncan, Dylan and Deanna.

Doris and her late husband retired to Millsboro in the early 1980s.  They quickly became active in their community.  Doris continued their service even after Fritz’s death.  Doris was a member of Grace UMC in Millsboro and the Grace United Methodist Women where she was treasurer for 25 years.  Doris was also active in the Liberty Bell Chapter of the Pioneers, the Friends of Millsboro Library, AARP and the Millsboro Women’s Club until it disbanded.  Doris loved to serve and continued to help with the Grace Soup Kitchen until she moved to Brandywine.  

A celebration of life will be held at Grace Church in Millsboro Friday, April 30, where friends may call at 10 a.m.  The celebration of life will be at 11 a.m.  Interment will be private at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Grace UMC Soup Kitchen, PO Box 566, Millsboro, DE  19966.
