Dorothy Marie Hooper, held many jobs

Dorothy Marie Hooper, 88, of Millsboro went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, while in the care of Cadia Renaissance Center in Millsboro.  She was born May 2, 1931, to the late Lena McCay. 

She graduated from the George Washington School, and held many jobs over her lifetime. She was a member of Power and Love Outreach Ministries for several years.  She worked for Blue Willow Inn for 30 years, and later worked in Ocean City, Md., for the Carousel Hotel. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hooper; her son Anthony McCray; and her brothers: Floyd, James,  Richard, and Orville McCray.

She is survived by her sister: Joyce McCray; three daughters: Bonnie McCray of Millsboro, Barbara (Cornelius) Wise of Georgetown and Girlena Hooper of Millsboro; and two sons: Barry Hooper of Millsboro; and Jermaine (Nicole) Hooper of Magnolia. Dorothy has 10 grandchildren: Troy McCray, Marvetta McCray, Marvin (Darlene) McCray, Ledonnya (Bambie) Wise, Marcus (Damara) Wise, Miranda Hooper, Barry Hooper Jr., Brandon Hooper, Shakia Hooper and Jaquan James.

A funeral service and Celebration of Her Life will be held at St. John 2nd Baptist Church at Mount Joy Road, Millsboro, Sunday, Sept. 8, at 3 p.m.  Friends may call one hour prior, from 2 till 3 p.m. for viewing and visitation.  Bishop Roland Mifflin will officiate.  Interment will be held Monday, Sept. 9, privately with the family at Antioch AME Church Cemetery.  Floral tributes are welcome.
