Delaware State Police has arrested a Dover man for his fifth DUI.

About 7:30 p.m., June 1, a trooper observed a white pickup truck driven by Richard Cornell of Dover cross the solid white line several times on Beaver Dam Road outside Lewes. The trooper activated the lights and siren several times, but Cornell failed to stop. Police say Cornell continued to cross over the solid white line and at one point went into the grass before correcting back onto the roadway. Cornell eventually pulled into a private driveway that did not belong to him.

Upon contact with the driver, police say, Cornell appeared to be intoxicated and showed multiple signs of impairment. Cornell was arrested and charged with his fifth DUI, a felony, along with traffic-related charges. He was arraigned out of the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $8,101 secured bond.
