Drop off school supplies for Cape students in need by Aug. 20

August 8, 2018

The Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation is leading a caravan of caring effort to provide back-to-school supplies for Cape district homeless and limited-income students. Supplies needed include materials like pens and pencils, notebooks, binders, sticky notes and highlighters.

For individuals and businesses interested in helping limited-income students start the school year on a positive note, collection bins will be available through Monday, Aug. 20, at County Bank locations in Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Milton.

To see a complete list of requested donations, go to www.chef-cape.org. Addresses for participating County Bank branches are 1609 Savannah Road, Lewes; 19927 Shuttle Road, Rehoboth Beach; and 140 Broadkill Road, Milton.

One of CHEF's principal focus areas is support for homeless and limited-income students, with the goal of helping them be all they can be in school and life. There are more than 100 homeless students in the Cape district, and 37 percent of Cape students are from limited-income families.

CHEF is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, and since 2007 has been a partner of the Cape Henlopen School District, contributing much-needed funds for educational programs. CHEF and the Cape Henlopen School District are grateful to St. Edmond Parish and the Village Improvement Association, both in Rehoboth Beach, for their financial support of the Cape Caravan of Caring, and other past programs for students in need.

For more information, contact CHEF Administrative Manager Ashley Reynolds at Ashley.reynolds@cape.k12.de.us or 703-861-4609.

Supplies will be delivered to all nine Cape school locations Friday, Aug. 24.
