Eagles’ performance brings them back down to Earth

December 7, 2017

The Philadelphia Eagles lost 24 to 10 in last Sunday's game to a more "playoff" experienced Seattle Seahawks team. This could actually be a good thing for the Eagles that they lost this game. It shows the team that they're not invincible and need to continue to play at their highest level on all fronts.

The birds need to win this next game with the Los Angeles Rams to stay in the hunt for home field advantage in the playoff race. I think the Eagles have a better chance to win this contest since the Rams also have a very young team. The Eagles are currently tied with the Minnesota Vikings for the NFL's best record at 10-2.

In a college football playoff update, the four teams that can win the championship are Clemson, Georgia, Alabama and Oklahoma. The semifinal games will be played on New Year's Day. I will be cheering for anybody but Alabama to win the championship. Not for any other reason than the fact that they have been the dominant team for almost a decade. It's time for someone else to be able to celebrate that accomplishment.

The Heisman Trophy presentation for the best college football player of the season is this weekend. There are only three finalists this year. They are Baker Mayfield from Oklahoma (who is the most likely candidate to win); Bryce Love from Stanford; and Lamar Jackson of Louisville (who won last year.) I don't understand the logic as to why Saquon Barkley from Penn State wasn't at least invited to the ceremony. He was supposedly the favorite coming into the season.

I was somewhat surprised and pleased with how well Tiger Woods played in the exhibition tournament at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas over the weekend. He finished in 9th place out of 18 and looked very healthy doing it. I hope he doesn't try to overdo it in his ongoing workout sessions, because this is his last chance. Even though Tiger was a bit of a media distraction, there were others who played really well at the tournament. Ricky Fowler won the event coming out of nowhere by shooting a final round of 61.

I hope everyone is thinking about and praying for all the people affected by this next round of California wildfires. This has been a really tough year for weather disasters!
