Easterseals grant supports new activities program for seniors

September 17, 2019

Easterseals Delaware & Maryland’s Eastern Shore is piloting a new It’s Never 2 Late technology system for the adult day program at Easterseals in Georgetown.

This technology can be especially beneficial for people with dementia because the content can be individualized for each user to help reduce anxiety, engage their focus, and stimulate their memories. With large touch screens so users can select their own activities, this system makes computer technology accessible to seniors and those with disabilities who may otherwise not be able to use such advances.

“Easterseals staff are always striving to provide meaningful and engaging programming to their participants,” said Kate Antisavage, Easterseals Adult Day Health Services Center director. “Thanks to the Bill Adami Fund, this new program will bring technology right to our participants’ fingertips in our Georgetown program.”

Support for the It’s Never 2 Late system came from the fifth annual Bill Adami Fund for Innovation Award. The fund was created in memory of Easterseals' late President/CEO William J. Adami to honor his legacy of leadership and innovation. After the pilot program is established in Georgetown, Easterseals officials hope to expand it to other areas.

The Easterseals Bill Adami Fund for Innovation is established at the Delaware Community Foundation. For more information or to donate, contact Claire Birney of Easterseals at 302-221-2066 or cbirney@esdel.org
