Effie Aline Palese, talented woman

January 13, 2021

Effie Aline Palese was born to Gus and Ethal Tarwater in Birmingham, Ala., in 1931. She met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Paul Palese, through music. They were married in 1953 and lived first in Claymont and North Wilmington before retiring in Rehoboth.

Aline passed away peacefully and surrounded by love at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes, Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, weeks shy of her 90th birthday. She is survived by daughters Sherry and Blair; son-in-law, Enrico Coiera; and much-loved grandson, Lucca, who live in Sydney, Australia; four foster grandchildren, including Amelia; her brother, David Tarwater in Alabama; sister- and brother-in-law Doris and Robert McDaniel in Lancaster, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

Aline had three children, including Robert (Bobby) David Palese, who passed away in 1997. Early on, Aline worked at the telephone company and DuPont, and later was a talented florist and seamstress. She was her musician husband Bob’s biggest fan. Aline was a longtime bridge player where she made numerous friends in Wilmington and Rehoboth. She was devoted to her church, St. Edmond in Rehoboth, where she volunteered and had many close friends.

Aline had a kind and generous spirit and made the most of everything in her life, even during the many health challenges of her last few years. She will be greatly missed by many including her close friend Jean. The family wishes to thank her caregivers during home care and at Harbor Healthcare.

Due to COVID-19, services will be small and private; however, her memorial service will be available online at 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5, by visiting the following link: http://www.parsellfuneralhomes.com/obituaries/permalink/9796375/LTWebcast.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

Interment will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery alongside her husband and son. The family hopes to hold a larger celebration of Aline’s life when circumstances allow.
