Eight people were injured June 17 following a crash at the intersection of Route 24 and Warrington Road.

The crash happened at 10:45 p.m. involving two vehicles, said Ken Swarts, spokesman for the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Co.

Sussex County EMS paramedics, Rehoboth Beach Fire EMS crews, Lewes Fire Department, Millsboro Fire Co., and Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad responded to the scene and found heavy damage to both vehicles, Swarts said.

There were four passengers in each vehicle, and Rehoboth firefighters, assisted by Lewes firefighters, used the Jaws of Life to extricate two people, Swarts said.

Delaware State Police Trooper 2 helicopter and LifeNet each transported one person by air to Christiana Hospital; four people were transported by ambulance to Beebe Healthcare; and two were taken to Bayheath Hospital Sussex Campus.
