Electric vehicle demos set Sept. 21 in Rehoboth Beach

September 20, 2019

Delaware electric vehicle owners and advocates will show off the latest technology, and DNREC Clean Transportation official Breanne Preisen will report on the state of Delaware’s EV program and its future from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, at Fifth Street and Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach. Attendees will talk to electric vehicle owners about cost and performance.

“I love all my electric vehicles,” said Charlie Garlow, president of the Delaware Electric Vehicle Association. “They accelerate and handle just like or better than regular cars, while saving me money. Maintenance costs are just about zero, and the electricity costs about the equivalent of 80 cents per gallon. They also save the Earth from additional water and air pollution, including climate change-related sea level rise.”

“Transportation sources like cars, trucks and buses are the single largest source of greenhouse gases,” said Claire Simmers of the Delaware Sierra Club. “We must accelerate our use of zero-pollution electric vehicles to reduce the single largest threat to our planet, global warming. Our local educational efforts here are part of the nationwide push by the Sierra Club, Citizens Climate Lobby and other national groups promoting EVs.”
