Elizabeth (Lisa) Jamison Hansen, devoted to family

February 26, 2021

Elizabeth (Lisa) Jamison Hansen, 71, of Rehoboth Beach passed away from pneumonia and emphysema Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021.

Lisa was born in Wilmington in 1949 to Francis Joseph and Elizabeth Lippincott Jamison.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband George Robert Hansen Jr.; and three brothers, Francis Joseph Jamison Jr., Peter Acton Jamison and Charles Scott Jamison. Lisa is survived by her sister-in- law, Leigh C. Jamison of Rehoboth Beach; her brother-in-law, Kenneth Hansen (Barbara) of Gulf Port, Fla.; her nephews, P. Acton Jamison of Seaford and David Hansen of El Paso, Texas; as well as many loving cousins.

Lisa was a graduate of Ursuline Academy, Wilmington, and Bennett College, Millbrook, N.Y. She was a member of the University and Whist Club, and the Rehoboth Beach Country Club.

Lisa fully supported her husband’s 20-year naval career which enabled her to live in many beautiful locations across the United States, including Oahu, Hawaii, San Diego, Calif., Pensacola, Fla., and Virginia Beach, Va. Lisa’s lifelong love for the beach and sunny weather, wherever that may have been at the time, always brought her great happiness.

Upon her husband’s retirement from the Navy, Lisa returned to Delaware. In addition to being a loving and caring homemaker, Lisa taught at the Madame Layton School for many years as a beloved preschool teacher. Throughout her lifetime, Lisa enjoyed needlework and created many treasured pieces. Lisa was recognized by the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society for her needlework.

Lisa was completely devoted to her family. Her devotion shone brightly in many roles over the years: as a companion to her parents, a nurse to her husband through his bouts of cancer, an advisor and confidant to her three younger brothers and various relatives, a second mother for her nephew, Acton, and a grandmother for her cousins, Katie and Ashley Ballinger. Lisa will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Due to COVID, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph on the Brandywine, Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Ursuline Academy, 1106 Pennsylvania Ave., Wilmington DE 19806, or the Greater Chesapeake Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 825 Hammonds Ferry Road, Suite H, Linthicum, MD 21090.
