Ellen C. Bunting, had love, compassion

Ellen C. Bunting, 94, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, June 15, 2019.

Ellen was born in Milford to the late Albert and Pearl (Justice) Bowers.  She worked as a dietician for Stockley Center.  Mrs. Bunting was a member of Careys UM Church, the United Methodist Women, and sang in the choir.  She was known for her kind heart and spirit, and would visit the sick and the shut-ins.  Ellen had great love and compassion for the Sussex Pregnancy Center, the Crisis House in Georgetown and Dale Dunning’s Jusst Sooup Ministries. She was a past member of the Cannon Grange and would volunteer at the Delaware State Fair Grange Booth.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy D. Bunting, in 1997; brother, Albert Bowers; sister, Dolores Marvel; and son-in-law, George J. ‘Billy’ Dietrich.

She is survived by her children, Gerald Townsend of Georgetown, Brenda Dietrich. formerly of Milton, and Bonnie (Bill) McIlvain also of Milton; two grandchildren, Jill (Gerald) Connor and Melody (John) Divers; and five great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Breandan, Aedan, Creek and Chapel.  

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 19, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, with an internment to follow at Carey’s Camp Cemetery.  A visitation will be held the night before Tuesday, June 18, from 7 to 9 p.m.
