Elvira Hurst, operating room tech

Elvira  Hurst, 81, of Lewes passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, at Manor Care Health Services in Huntingdon Valley, Pa.  She was born Jan. 22, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pa., daughter of the late Thomas and Aurora Kenney.

Elvira graduated from West Catholic High School. She built a lifelong career as an operating room technician in the medical field.  Elvira loved baseball, cooking, reading, singing, going to church, and spending time with family. She was also passionate about tai chi and yoga. Above all, Elvira cherished time spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Elvira was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Hurst, who passed away Nov. 11, 2016; and her siblings: Richard Lanzalotti, Dorothy Kenney SSJ and Aurora Jacalone. She is survived by her children: Debbie Gudonis (Eddie), Joanne Adinolfi (Mike), Joseph A. Garvey, Tom Garvey, Philip Hurst (Ginny), and Ryan Hurst (Angelina);  her stepdaughters: Mary Ellen Hurst, and Barbara Jean Bollinger (George); her 18 grandchildren; her 10 great-grandchildren; her sisters: Geri Breth, and Lillian Hooker; and countless nieces and nephews; and her good friend John Tyszkiewicz.
