Ethel Mae Adams, enjoyed being outdoors

October 22, 2018

Ethel Mae Adams, 77, lifelong resident of Ellendale, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018.

Mae was a military wife and homemaker.  She loved keeping herself busy outside.  She enjoyed cutting grass, planting flowers and gardening.  Mae would then stay outside until the sun set.  She loved cooking large meals for her family and feeding everyone that she could.  Miss Mae made daily trips to the Ellendale Exxon every evening for her fountain soda; stopping in at the same time every night. She was such a fixture there that customers and even a fill-in employee thought she was the store manager.  Mae especially enjoyed and very much looked forward to Tuesday and Friday trips with her son to Spence’s in Dover.

In addition to her parents, James L. and Beatrice A. (Marker) Webb, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Adams Sr.; a daughter, Beverly Buckley; and a brother, Gerald Webb.

She is survived by her son, Robert D. Adams Jr. and wife Doris Ann of Ellendale; her daughter, Brenda A. Scarborough and husband Carl of Milford; one sister, Phyllis Donovan of Lincoln; one brother, Donald Webb and wife Christine of Milton; four grandchildren, Quinton Buckley, Lindsay Adams, Jennifer Johnson and husband Derrieus, and James Buckley and wife Jocelyn; and several great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Ellendale Fire Company, 302 Main St., Ellendale, with a time of visitation for family and friends from noon to 1 p.m.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to dear friends, Joyce and Wayne Walton, and Jessy Chisenhall, as well as Nicole from Delaware Hospice for their kindness, visits and special care given to Mae and her family during the past several months.

Arrangements in the care of Short Funeral Services Inc., Milton.
