Fall craft fair postponed

September 18, 2022

Due to the weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 1 and 2, Lewes Historical Society’s fall craft fair will now take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday Oct. 22 and 23, on its Shipcarpenter Street campus. Admission is $5.

The public is invited to peruse the works of more than 50 talented artisans while enjoying live music and delectable treats. The Lewesers will perform from 9 a.m. to noon, Oct. 1, followed by Kindred Spirits from 1 to 4 p.m. The Jazzmen kick off in the morning slot Oct. 2 and Ampersand performs in the afternoon.

Brimming Horn Meadery’s Hammer and Horns food truck will provide lunch fare, and Hopkins Ice Cream will offer sweet treats.

A pumpkin painting activity for younger guests will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday. Parsons Farms is kindly donating the pumpkins.

Sussex Gardeners will have a plant sale offing a selection of mums, pansies, perennials and fall floral arrangements. Also featured will be houseplants and tropicals that have been rooted in water rather than soil. Many plants come from the gardens of Sussex Gardeners members. Descriptions and care instructions will be provided. The gardeners will also offer muffins, scones, cookies, brownies and breads for sale, including gluten-free baked goods. Homemade dog biscuits will be on sale for furry friends. All profits will go toward Sussex Gardeners' scholarship funds, which support Delaware Technical Community College students studying landscape and ornamental horticulture.

Attendees are welcome to spend the day and enjoy the festive atmosphere and beautiful setting with shade trees and gardens on the LHS main campus, where historic buildings will be open to the public.

All event fees support the Lewes Historical Society’s efforts to promote and advocate for preservation, education and cultural enrichment through museum exhibitions, educational programs, historical research and publications.
