Family mourns death of toddler

Sixteen-month-old dies two days after near drowning
August 29, 2019

The accidental drowning death of a 16-month-old Millsboro girl has devastated the girl's family, but they want to remind people of drowning dangers.

Accidental drowning is something all parents need to be aware of. You never think [it will be] your baby,” said Katrina Brown, mother of Zoey Ann Lennox.

Brown said the accident happened so fast, and she wants people to be aware that drowning is a reality. “It is very important for me and her father to get awareness out there,” she said.

Zoey died Aug. 22 after a near drowning accident two days earlier. “She fought as hard as her little body would let her but passed soon after,” wrote the family on a Gofundme account in Zoey's name.

Brown, Zoey's father Keith Lennox and their family are raising money to pay for funeral and burial costs for Zoey, and have raised almost $3,500 so far. Zoey's funeral was held Aug. 29.

“This is the hardest time of our lives but we appreciate everything everyone has done,” Brown said.
