Figures on the Beach online paint-along slated Nov. 18

November 4, 2020

Milton Arts Guild announced Figures on the Beach, a paint-along with Roger Dellar, will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, via Zoom.

The class fee is $25 for guild members and $30 for nonmembers.

Dellar will demo his art and technique in oil, but acrylic and watercolor artists are welcome and will gain valuable insight in approaching these subjects. His style is exciting and unique. This class is for painters at any level.

Working in oil, participants will need titanium white, cadmium lemon, cad yellow pale, cad yellow hue, scarlet lake, permanent rose, burnt umber, ultramarine blue and cobalt blue, and a 9-by-12-inch or 10-by-12-inch white gessoed board. Dellar uses Zest-It as a nontoxic solvent for oil. If painting in another medium, participants should try to match palette colors listed and surface of suggested size.

Dellar is an international artist specializing in figurative work. His art reflects interest in people and their behavior, plus how the play of light transforms a subject. A plein air artist, Dellar travels widely and is internationally known for his work in several different media. He is a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, the Pastel Society and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, and a well-known teacher of art and techniques of oil painting throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States. Dellar is represented locally by Peninsula Gallery in Lewes.
