August 1, 2021
Three people were injured July 31 in a five-vehicle pileup on Route 1 along the Forgotten Mile.

The crash happened at 8:30 p.m. involving five vehicles that were heavily damaged near Terrace Road. The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene, where large amounts of debris covered the roadway, said fire company spokesman Warren Jones. A 25-year-old Georgia man was charged with driving under the influence, said Master Cpl. Heather Pepper of the Delaware State Police.

Rehoboth and Lewes fire company ambulances took three people to Beebe Healthcare, Jones said.

Route 1 northbound was closed for two hours. More information will be posted when available.
