Flo Elaine Stabley, medical secretary
Flo Elaine Stabley, 86, of Lewes passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born July 24, 1932, in Red Lion, Pa., daughter of the late Leonard D. and Nettie N. (Wineka) Slenker.
Mrs. Stabley started her career as a medical secretary at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, and worked as a librarian in Red Lion, Pa. She also worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Ruggiero at Paoli Hospital for over 20 years. She was very involved in the Girl Scouts of America, believing in their mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character. Mrs. Stabley loved reading, gardening and the beach, especially taking walks to The Point at Cape Henlopen State Park with her husband. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family. Mrs. Stabley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stabley was preceded in death by her sister, Myrtle Opdyke; and her sister-in-law, Jane Myers. She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Gary W. Stabley of Lewes; her daughters: Cynthia Beaver Stabley of Red Lion, Cathy Sentz (Jeffrey) of York, Pa., Christi Finney (Douglas) of Millville, N.J., and Camilla Goodling of Dallastown, Pa.; her 11 grandchildren; her 21 great-grandchildren; her brother, Dennis Slenker of Red Lion; and her sister-in-law, Lyn Webster of Sun City, Ariz.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 8, at 3 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 2 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will also be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m., at Chapel Church, 3050 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion, where friends may visit beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will follow.
