Florence A.Confrey, had illustrious banking career

Florence A. (Traversaro) Confrey, 67, of Rehoboth Beach passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at her home surrounded by the love and support of her family. She was born Tuesday, March 7, 1950, in New York City, N.Y., daughter of the late Anthony and Esther (Shursky) Traversaro.

Florence is an alumnus of St. John's Villa Academy High School and Wagner College, both located in Staten Island, N.Y. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wagner College in 1972. In her career, Florence started as a local Citibank branch teller working her way to eventually becoming one of the first female executives as a vice president, managing major contract negotiations. She worked for more than 35 years for Citigroup in New York at their locations at 111 Wall St., 425 Park Ave., and Long Island City in Queens, N.Y. She was highly regarded among her colleagues, known for being a consummate professional, an expert negotiator and being very personable. Many of Florence's academic and business relationships remained lifelong friendships.

In her free time, Florence was known for her talent in cooking, creating wonderful meals that reflected her Italian and Jewish heritage. She enjoyed travelling, having visited Australia, most of Europe, Canada, Mexico and many trips within the United States. She spent her later years with her husband Paul devoting time and love to her grandson Thomas Norberg, who was her pride and joy, along with her son Rick and daughter-in-law Rebecca.

Florence is survived by her husband, Paul Confrey of Rehoboth Beach; her son Rick Norberg, daughter-in-law Rebecca Norberg and grandson Thomas Norberg of Vernon, N.J, and many loving family members and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, at Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive Lewes. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence's name can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
