Foertsch should not have been commentary

November 12, 2020

I recognize the relevance of publishing letters arguing both sides of an issue in the Gazette, but I am disappointed that you would publish Geary Foertsch’s letter attempting to minimize the clearly dangerous COVID pandemic with dubious facts and Trumpian distractions as the headline Commentary.  Certainly, medical mistakes are an issue of importance, but they do not diminish the impact of the scientific fact of a quarter of a million Americans dying from COVID.  The tactic of bombarding people with questionable statistics and bombastic distractions is disingenuous.

Editor’s note: The previous week we featured Arthur Sowers’ Commentary in the lead space and felt it was only fair to allow Foertsch to counter his commentary the following week.
