Former deputy AG endorses Mullaney

July 13, 2018

I write in support of Tim Mullaney's candidacy to be Delaware's next attorney general.

I have known Tim for over 10 years. He was my supervisor for my first four years at the Department of Justice, and we were colleagues working hand in hand with Beau Biden when I was chief deputy. Without reservation, I can state that Tim is honest, hardworking, and smart. He is an excellent manager of people, encouraging them to be their best. He is patient and principled, and would undoubtedly do a wonderful job as our next AG.

Tim also has the professional background that makes him the best-suited candidate to be attorney general. He was a military translator in the Vietnam war, flying missions over Cambodia to intercept and translate enemy communications. He was a career police officer in Dover.

After serving for over 20 years as a police officer, he was appointed by President Clinton to be the U.S. Marshal for the District of Delaware, and then went to night school to obtain his law degree. He worked as the county attorney under Tom Gordon's first county administration, and was the chief administrative officer for the county during Tom Gordon's second term as New Castle County executive.

Tim held a series of senior leadership roles in the Delaware Attorney General's Office working directly for Beau Biden, and Beau relied upon Tim's sound and practical judgment almost every day of his tenure. In short, Tim, having held a wide range of leadership responsibilities in city, county, state and federal government, has the requisite experience and temperament to make a great attorney general, and he has my unqualified endorsement.
