It was so shocking to see that the Cape Gazette give a huge editorial space for Dewey Commissioner David Moskowitz to make claims against the town that he represents. As a past mayor, it was my administration that started computerizing the town’s finances and coordinating links to each department. The now town website was started at that time and an ATM machine was a new thing that the then town manager didn’t want. The town has grown a lot since then with a lot of policies that have developed as needed.
Mr. Moskowitz had some unfortunate dealings with the Dewey police before his election to office, and his continuing attacks are in my opinion, a conflict of interest. This appears to be his only interest. The town has great employees that continue to care about Dewey.
A recent complaint by David of an incident he supposedly encountered at the Winter Gala this year, went to a complaint to the Delaware State Police /Attorney General because Dewey referred the complaint to them. I was called in as a witness by a state police detective because I was photographed with David and could possibly be a witness. The event he complained about was that someone pushed him and he staggered. I sincerely believed that I caused him to stagger as we turned for the picture. I only recalled it because I helped with the decorations behind him. I saw no one push him, and supposedly the video that was recording the event showed no evidence of his claim.
I have never left volunteering and helping out in Dewey events. This is where my friends are and many former mayors and commissioners are right there with me. This present administration and the town are doing a great job of going forward and establishing needed transparency along with policies as needed.
I hope the public sees that and doesn’t fall into believing the negativity.
