Fort Miles sketching event and contest set April 27

The Fort Miles Historical Association, in partnership with Delaware Sate Parks, will host its 2nd Annual Sketching Event and Contest Saturday, April 27, at the Fort Miles Museum and Historical Area in Cape Henlopen State Park.

The event will be held during the Delaware Goes to War open house, which takes place annually at the park, and is set for 10 a.m. to 4p.m., rain or shine. Sketching opportunities will include uniformed historical interpreters from the 261st Coast Artillery as well as vintage World War II vehicles and equipment.

Artists are encouraged to submit up to five sketches to be judged by Lewes artist Paul Rendel and be eligible to be recognized as a top three award-winner. Advance registration is required before Saturday, April 27.

There is no fee to participate. Artists will have up to two weeks following the event to complete sketches to be entered. Artists who choose not to participate in the contest are invited to sketch informally throughout the day.

Artists whose sketches are judged as one or more of the top 3 will have their works hung in the Fort Miles Museum art gallery with appropriate recognition, and posted on the FMHA website and Facebook page. Shuttle service will be available starting at 9:30 a.m. from the the Cape Henlopen State Park beach bathhouse parking area.
